Tamang Heritage Trekking is newly opened trekking in Nepal. Tamang Heritage area is located about 30 km toward the north of Kathmandu. Trekking along this unbeaten trail is a new experience for the trekkers exploring mountains region with the culture of local people. These treks merge an enchanting journey wherein you can enjoy the magnificent mountain views with the insight into the unique Tamang culture, alpine terrain, green meadows and rhododendron forest.
People from this Tamang Heritage Trekking area are Buddhist. Tamang communities are generally found on higher elevations. They are mainly sheep and yak herders but grow some hardy grains and vegetables. Their daily life activities include raising livestock, agriculture and trade with Kerung in Tibet. They also go to forest to collect bamboo to make baskets and mats.
Throughout Tamang Heritage Trekking, you can enjoy the spectacular views of Langtang Lirung, Langtang Kerung, Ganesh Himal and more Langtang Himalayan ranges. The culture, traditional wooden styles of village and spectacular views of Mountain is main attraction of this area. | 01. | Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1467 m.) It takes about 8 hours. Which is secondary road, driving from Kathmandu to Trisuli is nice road than after start the bumping road. They stop in Trisuli for your lunch. The bus to Syabru Besi goes passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River you catch a glance of Himalaya view and green hills. You stay overnight at hotel in Syabrubensi. |
| 02. | Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2238m.) We flow the path through Goljung village having amazing view of Chilime hydropower. The cultural show at Goljung and Gatlang makes your trekking a memorable one. The village made by wooden roof is amazing for various time visitors too. It takes around six hours from Syabrubensi to get Gatlang village. |
| 03. | Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m.) On the way you enjoy sightseeing of Langtang range and Ganesh Himal. At Tatopani which naturally signifies 'hot water', you can take hot bath in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. People believe that many kind of disease can be removing after shower in Tatopani pound beside of get warm in Cold Mountain. It takes about 4 hours from Gatlang to Tatopani. |
| 04. | Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2338m.) via Nagthali (3165m.) The panoramic view of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, Sanjen ranges can be unforgatable from Nagthali for your lifetime. Nagthali used to be a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. Another cultural village Thuman is popular for its Shamanic performances and beautiful view of Langtang. Beautiful view of the mountains can be seen from every house in Thuman. It takes about six hours. |
| 05. | Trek from Thuman to Briddim (2229m.) You can experience village life of Briddim. Moreover you can enjoy cultural show performed by community members. You can also experience of home stay and Tamang culture. To mention about Briddim is a Tibetan Buddhist village in the bosom of Langtang Himal. It takes about seven hours. |
| 06. | Trek from Briddim to Syabrubensi (1467m.) You walk through Briddim village while observing the local lifestyle and culture and interacting with the locals. The day we back to Syabrubensi to back Kathmandu. It takes about four hours. |
| 07. | Drive from Syabrubensi to Kathmandu. Same way back same way to Kathmandu which we took to start our trek. They stop us for lunch in Kalikasthan and continue the drive till Kathmandu. It takes about eight hours. |
I’ve just retuned to Kathmandu competing the Annapurna circuit trekking organized by Outshine Adventures. They provide me with an excellent guide Pralhad and porter Hari. They took care of me for over 15 days. First going at the adjective pace and then selecting very good guest house all the way until Pokhara. Pralhad also answered all my too many questions about Nepal, its culture and its people.
